The Ministry of Religious Affairs declared the reopening of mosques, as of Monday, January 18, 2021, in severe compliance with the health protocol in order to limit the spread of the Coronavirus.
Hence, mosques will be open 15 minutes before the call to prayer. The department emphasises the need for worshipers to do their ablution at home, to bring their own prayer rugs, to wear masks inside mosques and to adhere to safe physical distance.
Elderly people, people with chronic illnesses and those who have doubts about their health are requested not to go to the mosque in order to preserve their health and that of others. In this sense, the ministry asks for the rigorous application of the health protocol and at the same time welcomes the efforts made by other state apparatuses as well as civil society.
