The correctional chamber specializing in financial corruption cases convicted Riadh Ben Fadhel, former general coordinator of the Al Qotb party, to four years and six months in jail, accompanied by fines totalling two million dinars.
Riadh Ben Fadhel was discovered guilty of a series of financial crimes, including regularizing export operations abroad in breach of legal procedures, acquiring property abroad, opening bank accounts abroad illegally, and the non-restitution of export income from abroad.
The activist was apprehended on November 14, 2023, at Tunis-Carthage airport upon his return from a trip. An arrest warrant was issued against him on November 24, 2023. He is likewise being prosecuted in a case concerning the acquisition, after the revolution, of vehicles belonging to the family of the former President of the Republic, Zine El Abidine Ben Ali.
