Tunisia – Sabotagers almost caused carnage on Gabes’ train

Anonymous individuals set three tyres of a heavy goods vehicle on the railway line connecting the governorates of Sfax and Gabès, especially between the stations of Aouina and Skhira. Which almost caused a disaster. The driver recognised this act and had to use the emergency brakes, which caused panic among the passengers.

The trip was interrupted before resuming, knowing that this criminal act was not the first of its sort. A similar case was registered on November 21, 2018, at the entrance to Zanoush station, when a train carrying passengers derailed due to a large tyre placed on the rails.

It should be recalled that these acts are criminalized by law and their perpetrator is liable to a jailsentence of ten years, up to the death penalty, in the event of death caused by the accident.
