Tunisia – Saïed: Accelerate formation of criminal reconciliation committee!

President of the Republic, Kais Saied, paid a visit to the Government Palace in Kasbah on the afternoon of Monday, February 26, 2024, where he met with Prime Minister Mr. Ahmed El Hachani. The meeting focused on examining several draft ordinances and laws slated for presentation at the upcoming Council of Ministers session. Further, a gathering was held in the presence of the head of government, Leila Jaffel, Minister of Justice, and Sihem Boughdiri Namsia, Minister of Finance.

During the meeting, President Saied highlighted the urgency of expediting the formation of a criminal reconciliation committee, particularly to ease the return of embezzled funds, both domestically and abroad, to the people.

President Saied underscored the significance of appointees assuming complete responsibility for thoroughly examining the presented files before submission to the National Security Council for approval of the settlement amount, potential increments, or rejections. This protocol aligns with the revisions made to the decree establishing this committee.

Furthermore, President Saied emphasized that people committed to returning the people’s funds in their entirety are welcome to pursue reconciliation. Contrarily, those opting for an alternative path must be prepared to bear full responsibility before the judicial authority.
