Tunisia – Saïed: accumulation of waste over past few weeks is neither innocent nor fortuitous

President of the Republic, Kais Saied, welcomed this afternoon, Wednesday, June 26, 2024, at Carthage Palace, the Minister of the Interior, Khaled Ennouri, and the Secretary of State to the Minister of the Interior at the head of National Security, Sofiane Bessadok, and took stock of the security situation in the country.

This meeting also examined several other topics, including filling vacancies solely based on loyalty to the homeland, and the role of municipalities in delivering services to citizens in the best conditions.

The Head of State emphasised that certain phenomena are neither natural nor innocent, including, but not limited to, the non-removal of waste and its accumulation for weeks in multiple regions of the Republic. He called for critical decisions to be taken against any party that violates the duties imposed on it.

The need to overcome all difficulties with the Libyan brothers to reopen the Ras Jedir crossing was also noted.
