President of the Republic, Kais Saied, visited Mr. Abdelaziz Chihi on Wednesday May 1, 2024, in Megrine. Chihi was seriously burned following the explosion that happened on March 14, 2024 in the gas terminal of the port of Radès, and awarded the first class of the Labor Medal in his honour, underscoring his courage and his deep sense of responsibility to the alongside his colleagues.
The head of the state emphasised that the Tunisian State works not only to offer employment opportunities to all but also wishes to guarantee workers’ rights to a fair wage and to complete information.
The President of the Republic then went to the house of the deceased Slim ben Jemiâ, in the suburb of Ez-Zahra, who died as a result of the serious burns he suffered during the same explosion. The President of State presented the first class of the Labor Medal to the family of the deceased, considering that what he did was a heroic act, because he decided to save Tunisia from disaster when he blocked the gas leak and faced the fire, knowing it was life-threatening. The President of the Republic underlined that Tunisia honours its heroes even after their death and that it will never fail to fully support their families.
