President Kais Saied and his Egyptian counterpart Abdel Fattah Sisi discussed the situation in Gaza during a phone call on Monday. They reviewed Egypt’s efforts to consolidate the ceasefire deal and facilitate humanitarian aid.
On the bilateral level, Egyptian presidential spokesperson Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy said that the discussion also covered relations between the two countries. Both leaders welcomed the development of bilateral ties and stressed their commitment to strengthening cooperation in various fields, particularly economic and trade relations.
The two presidents voiced their interest in expanding joint efforts on matters of mutual concern to fulfil the aspirations of their peoples.
According to a statement from the Egyptian presidency, President Saied hailed the Arab reconstruction plan for Gaza, led by Egypt, and affirmed Tunisia’s support for the initiative, which ensures rebuilding efforts without displacing Palestinians.
In this regard, both leaders strongly rejected any forced displacement of Palestinians or attempts to erase the Palestinian cause. They stressed that the establishment of a Palestinian state based on the June 4, 1967, borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, is the only path to achieving lasting peace in the region.
The spokesperson also remarked that the call touched on the situations in Libya and Syria. The two presidents reaffirmed their commitment to the stability, unity, and sovereignty of both nations while ensuring the security of their peoples against threats of conflict and division.
