Tunisia-Saïed meets Minister of Agriculture

President of the Republic, Kaïs Saïed, welcomed, this Thursday, Abdelmonem Belati, Minister of Agriculture, Hydraulic Resources and Fisheries, at Carthage palace.

The President of the Republic stated that agriculture, such as a number of other sectors, is linked to state sovereignty and that food security is part of national security.

“This sector needs to be given the status it deserves and giving farmers and fishermen the necessary attention,” reads a press release from the Presidency of the Republic.

The water problem has been addressed, as well as projects connected to seawater desalination plants and the extension of a Gabès Gulf of the mining basin of the Gafsa governorate.

The meeting also focused on the creation of citizen companies for agriculture reform and the creation of wealth within the framework of the decree creating this type of business.

The two parties likewise discussed the file of the preservation of Tunisian seeds and the need to provide fodder as well as preserve the forests.

The President of the Republic insisted on the necessity to combat corruption and the corrupt, added the presidency statement.
