President of the Republic, Kaïs Saïed, carried an unannounced visit this afternoon to Pasteur Square in Tunis, where he remarked on the state of disrepair of the municipal swimming pool building on the square.
He voiced his dissatisfaction with the delay in beginning work and studies since his previous visit.
He said a nationalist donor had pledged to finance the work, and that it would be entrusted to the military engineering department.
Saïed gave his instructions for the swimming pool to return to what it was, identically. He insisted that rehabilitating it without altering anything about its appearance and architecture.
Saïed insisted on the necessity to speed up the work and not let oneself be overwhelmed by the routine of studies and other procedures which extend deadlines, knowing that there will be no significant studies to be carried out, given that the building will have to be rehabilitated without changing anything in its composition.
Saïed deplored the fact that this municipal monument had been left in this state for 40 years. He clarified that the strategic location of this building made it the target of all the corrupt who desired to seize the land, as is the case with the premises of the neighboring post office, and the entire Belvedere park.
