President of the Republic, Kais Saied, welcomed on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at Carthage Palace, Ms. Mishkat Salama, president of the National Committee for Criminal Reconciliation. He was notified of the progress of the work of this committee after having amended the text which created it and designated new members.
The Head of State recollected that responsibility is a popular demand and that there is no room for tolerance, even for a single cent. He likewise specified that anyone who desires today to extend the procedures again and resort, once again, to expert appraisals to decrease the value of the sums to be paid, as he attempted without success in the past, will not have another opportunity and must assume all its responsibilities before the judiciary.
The President of the Republic also confirmed his firm position according to which the purpose of the creation of this committee is true reconciliation based on justice and the recovery of funds looted from the Tunisian people. He added that anyone who sincerely resorts to reconciliation must express his will quickly and resume his activity safely, free from blackmail from any party. As for those who still believe they can evade responsibility and have not come to their senses, they will find no alternate for a fair justice system, nor should they be under the illusion that throwing themselves into the arms of any party, whether inside or outside the country, will be their support or support.
