Tunisia – Saïed renews call for abolition of subcontracting and fixed-term employment contracts

President of the Republic, Kais Saied, welcomed, on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at Carthage Palace prime minister Ahmed El Hachani The meeting covered the progress of government work, in general, and the agenda of the next Council of Ministers.

The President of the Republic called for speeding up the development of a bill amending the Labor Code to end subcontracting in the private sector because it is a trade in human beings and the sweat of the poor and miserable.

The President of the Republic gave one example among many others which does not honour the Tunisian people who demanded justice and dignity, linking to an institution which deals with a subcontracting company. This company obtains a monthly fee for each contract of 1,410 dinars, while the net salary received by the housekeeper of this company does not surpass 570 dinars per month.

In this same context linked to employment, the President of State called for an end to limited-term contracts, because this type of contract does not confer rights to employees and there is no perspective for those whose contract is set within a limit every 3 months to be renewed after a day or two.
