Tunisia-Saïed: The shortage of certain basic products is not innocent

President of the Republic, Kais Saïed, met, this Friday, July 15, 2022, at Carthage Palace, with prime minister Najla Bouden. During this meeting, the Head of State concentrated his attention on the issue of distribution channels and the necessity to provide all basic products to all citizens.

The President called on the competent authorities to play their complete role in order to avoid dysfunctions or to leave the markets without control. It is furthermore vital to sanction those who each time cause shortages of products. Saïed stated that the phenomenon of the shortage of certain food products is not innocent.

In addition, the President of the Republic called for monitoring the file of stolen funds and coordinating with the various stakeholders so that each party assumes its entire responsibility and does what is necessary without delay. The issue concerns funds belonging to the people and is not restricted to simple judicial measures.

Rather, intensive work is needed, particularly on the diplomatic level, noted the same statement. The president clarified that this situation must no longer persist because the files are solely examined after the pronouncement of a verdict by the justice abroad. In addition, business does not concern one or two people but more. The countries concerned are also multiple.
