Tunisia-Saied: We are laying the foundation stone of a new era.

The President of Tunisia, Kaïs Saïed, along with his wife, cast their votes in the local elections on Sunday, December 24, 2023, at a polling station in the El Mnihla region of the Ariana governorate. Saïed emphasized that these elections mark the beginning of a new era, focusing on addressing the people’s aspirations and providing them with the means to express their opinions directly.

He highlighted the accountability of elected officials to the voters, stating that if they fail to meet the demands of the people, confidence can be withdrawn during the parliamentary period. Saïed also clarified Tunisia’s status, stating that it is not a regional state but a unified one. He emphasized the importance of the choices made through laws, which should reflect the will of those who initiated the revolutionary movement.

Additionally, Saïed expressed the commitment to continue building state institutions and work towards purging the state of individuals who have negatively influenced it for decades.
