Tunisia – Sami Fehri’s Trial Postponed

The Criminal Chamber, responsible for handling financial corruption cases at the Court of First Instance of Tunis, started examining a case today, Thursday, November 14, 2024. The investigation in this case involved the former CEO of Tunisie Télécom, Montassar Waily, who is currently at large, and television producer Sami Fehri.

Sami Fehri was not present at the hearing, as the defence presented a notice showing that the decision of the indictment chamber regarding this case is currently under appeal.

The defence team also requested that the court delay the review of the case until the result of the appeal decision is known.

It is worth noting that the representative of the public prosecutor’s office for state disputes attended the hearing, reaffirmed the previous civil claims, and left the decision on postponement up to the court.

The court decided to postpone the review of the case until a hearing in December, pending the outcome of the appeal.
