In an interview with France 24, the Minister of Economy and Planning Samir Saïed announced that it is quite normal that talks with the IMF take time. “This is an insurance to ensure the conditions of reforms that have been postponed for a long time. Today, we are under an obligation to carry out these reforms and we no longer have room for mistakes. I think it is a matter of weeks before we reach a deal with the financial institution in question. The IMF has communicated well on this, it has voiced its satisfaction with the preparation of reforms by the administration. I do not deny the problems we are currently encountering, but the Tunisian economy is not in danger of collapsing. It says that the implementation of the reforms will not be easy but it is not impossible” he declared.
