The specialist in immunology at the Institut Pasteur in Tunis, Samar Samoud, underscored on Monday the significance of receiving the third dose of the coronavirus vaccine to safeguard against the Omicron variant.
In a statement to the TAP agency, Samoud explained that scientific studies have revealed that with only two doses the body is protected at a rate of 20% from contamination by the Omicron variant while with three doses it is 70% protected.
She additionally noted that 25% of people vaccinated in Tunisia, aged 50 and over, have already received the third dose of the coronavirus vaccine.
