The Prime Ministry declared on Tuesday that after deliberation with President Kais Saied, it was determined to dismiss Foreign Affairs Minister Khemaies Jhinaoui and consign Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs Sabri Bachtobji with the management of the ministry, in compliance with the legal texts in force.
So who is Sabri Bachtobji ?
Born on 03 October 1963, Kélibia, Tunisia, Sabri Bachtobji obtained a Licence in Translation in Arabic, French and Spanish from the Institut Bourguiba des Langues Vivantes. He went on to procure a Master’s Degree in Political Sciences and International Relations then a Post Graduate Certificate in International Relations in 1993.
He joined the ministry of foreign affairs in 1989, He also held several ministerial portfolios.
He was appointed in March 2010-June 2011 as Consul General of Tunisia in Lyon, France. In July 2011, he was then designated as Deputy Director in charge of Turkey, the Balkans and Switzerland.
As of April 2013, he served as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Tunisia to the Federative Republic of Brazil before being prompted to Minister Plenipotentiary First Class in September 2016.
