Tunisia – Secretary of State for Security on inspection visit to Gabes

The governorate of Gabes was the last stop on the tour of inspection visits conducted by the Secretary of State to the Minister of the Interior in charge of security, Sofiane Bessadek, in the security units of southern Tunisia, which included a visit to the governorates of Tataouine and Medenine on Thursday and Friday, November 7 and 8.

The Secretary of State started his visit to the Gabes region today, Saturday, by inaugurating the headquarters of the sixth traffic brigade of the National Guard on the A1 highway, before checking several headquarters of the Security and the National Guard, civil protection, as well as the personnel working there, according to a press release issued by the Ministry of the Interior.

The visit also involved the Border Guard Division in Mareth, the Intervention Regiment, the Intervention Service of the National Guard, the headquarters of the Regional Directorate of Civil Protection in Gabes, the Border Police Station of Ghannouch at the commercial port of Gabes, and the Regional Civil Protection Station in Gabes, the Maintenance Regiment in Gabes, in addition to many significant security points such as the Fort Arram point, the strong point at the Teboulbou crossroads and the strong point at the civil prison of Gabes.

The Secretary of State also oversaw a working session at the headquarters of the National Security district in Gabes in the presence of the governor of the region and several regional security executives from the Security Corps, the National Guard and Civil Protection, where he commended their efforts to preserve the security of the national territory against all threats, such as the crossing of land borders and the promotion and trafficking of drugs and all kinds of terrorist crimes.

He instructed to deployment of additional efforts to combat the phenomenon of theft and violence in stadiums and to intensify security patrols to maintain public security, also underscoring the necessity to resist the phenomenon of monopoly and speculation based on the recommendations of the President of the Republic, during the National Security Council held on November 4. The visit was also an opportunity to listen to the concerns of the agents of the various security units.
