A spokesperson for the National Guard announced that security units seized during the past two days, 49 persons who had tried to illegally traverse the borders by sea from Sfax and Nabeul governorates, the TAP reported.
The official affirmed that Maritime Guard units at El Amra coast (Sfax governorate) blocked a stolen boat on Sunday night with 14 persons on board, aged between 20 and 29 from Tunis and Sfax governorates, who attempted to enter Europe.Five among these detainees are wanted for common civil cases.
Further, Maritime Guard units seized in possession of the migrants’ important sums of money in foreign currency. The Public Prosecutor commanded in this regard, that 8 among them will be kept in custody, the others were released and the required legal actions will be taken.
In the same context,A second press release published by the Sidi Youssef Maritime district (in kerkennah) detained 8 persons aged between 20 and 32 who reside in Sfax and Gabes governorates. These people were planning an irregular migration operation and had in their property 16,000 dinars.
According to the TAP, The Public Prosecutor decreed that 3 persons will be kept in custody, while the others will be released and the required legal measures will be taken against them.
In Nabeul governorate, Maritime Brigade units also stopped a boat located in Korba’s coast with onboard 21 people including women, who were trying to cross to Europe. The Public Prosecutor directed to take the necessary legal measures against them.
The maritime orientation unit of Kebili’s National Guard arrested also on Monday 6 individuals in a rented car.
These individuals who are from Tunis, Manouba and Beja admitted during the investigation that they were planning to illegally reach Italy from the coasts of Kelibia.
The Public Prosecutor entrusted this unit to investigate into this case and ordered the detention of the suspects,the TAP added.
