Tunisia-Seizure of 14,000 subsidized notebooks, says Ministry of Commerce

Ministry of Commerce monitoring teams declared the seizure of approximately 14,000 subsidized notebooks, dedicated to being resold at higher prices and to withhold merchandise, as well as several other substandard school supplies.

During a working session held on Friday at the headquarters of the Ministry of Commerce, it was verified that the process for the provision of subsidized books and notebooks has currently exceeded 80%.

Trade and Export Development Minister Mohamed Bousaid announced the updated data on the return to school is encouraging.

He also emphasised that the efforts are directed at subduing some circumstantial issues due to the repercussions of the Covid-19 pandemic, such as the recorded shortage of some book titles that will be available in early October.

The session also centred on monitoring work, since 145 violations were recorded during the first week of September 2020, all related to the non-display of prices, invoicing, conditional sales and abstention from selling, in addition to increasing prices and promoting products of unknown provenance.
