Tunisia-Several countries including Tunisia are exposed to storms like the one that devastated Libya

The Arab Meteorological Center cautioned this Monday of the great threat of a repeat of storms in the Mediterranean, similar to Storm Daniel which devastated Greece, and especially eastern Libya.

The centre clarified that this storm was generated by a significant increase in the surface temperature of the Mediterranean Sea and that this upsurge is still there, in the eastern and western basins of the Mediterranean, and even in the centre, after it fell after the discharge during storm Daniel.

The centre explained that this increase in sea surface temperatures raises the risk of the appearance of storms and cyclones when warm air masses from the south meet cold air masses from Europe.

The centre warned countries around the Mediterranean to prepare to encounter such storms and also called on the Libyan authorities to speed up relief efforts, for fear of the occurrence of another storm in the coming period.
