Tunisia – Sfax: Citizens unhappy with mock sales

Several citizens of the Sfax region have voiced their outrage at the behaviour of certain traders implicated in the winter sales period which started today, February 1, 2024.

They told the press that some merchants had raised prices before the beginning of the sales season, then restored the earlier prices, and that a number of them had not respected the rules of the sales, which only included clothes, according to their expression.

They explained that some did not respect the established procedures, which compelled them to abstain from these, so-called, reductions, which represented “an outlet for Tunisian families”, saying: “What a shame … These sales are sales in name only.”

They called on the Ministry of Commerce and the various parties concerned to interfere and dissuade offenders, to sustain transparency and credibility in relations with customers and to take into account the purchasing power of the Tunisian citizens who are no longer able to meet their basic needs given the continued and insane rise in prices.
