The Ministry of the Environment has declared the reopening of El Kenna landfill in the delegation of Agareb, in the governorate of Sfax, given that it is a public landfill, whose role is to curb environmental, health and economic hazards.
The department confirmed that the decision to reopen the landfill was exerted in conjunction with other measures, including the prompt start of redevelopment work, pending the upgrading of the site.
It is likewise a question of extracting the gases and of treating them, by increasing the operations of elimination of odours, as well as of securing a treatment against insects and cleaning and lifting the waste accumulated in the districts and in anarchic points in the governorate, involving all the parties concerned.
