Speaking to Tunisie Numérique, lawyer of the minor assailed and undressed by police officers in Sidi Hassine, Yassine Azaza, stated the victim’s mother was harassed by officers from the police station in the region.
The lawyer affirmed that the latter sustained “physical and psychological attacks” in order to push her to dismiss the charges of those who beat and humiliated her son.
The lawyer stated that the reaction of some police unions to the scandal was not unexpected, recalling that the interior ministry itself went so far as to issue a statement distorting the facts.
He accused the general directorate of the national security of doing everything to conceal the case, adding that another complaint will be brought today against the agents who attacked the mother of the victim.
Yassine Azaza further stressed that even if the agents had their face hidden at the time of the assault, the child announced that he would be able to identify his attackers, however, the police authorities refused to organize a session of identification.
