The climb in temperatures over the last two weeks and the retention of rainfalls for more than a month in the Siliana region have caused damage to a large part of the cereal and legume crops, especially in the south of the governorate, in areas sown with barley, according to statements by a member of the executive office of the Tunisian Union of Agriculture and Fisheries, Al-Boubakri.
He clarified that approximately 50% of the cereal areas are considered good, while the remaining 50% are considered below average out of a total of 160,000 hectares sown because they were damaged by the southerly winds, which impacted all agricultural areas, whether cereals or legumes (beans).
