Tunisia-SNJT: 28 attacks committed against journalists during the 1st round of legislative elections

In its monthly report, issued on Wednesday, the National Union of Tunisian Journalists (SNJT) declared that 28 violations were committed against journalists and photojournalists from December 10 to 20, a period observed by the conduct of the first round of elections. legislative.

The SNJT specified that 24 of the 28 documented attacks took place on the day of the vote (December 17, 2022).

According to the report, 31 journalists and photojournalists accredited by the Independent High Authority for Elections were victims of transgressions relating, mainly, to the right of access to information.

The monitoring unit under the SNJT documented 15 cases of an impediment to work, 9 cases of withholding information and 4 cases of harassment.
