Tunisia-Snjt reaches agreement with the presidency of government

The National Union of Tunisian Journalists (SNJT) has suspended its strike which was planned next Thursday, December 10, 2020, after a working session was organized between the SNJT and the presidency of the government in which an agreement was reached to publish the joint framework agreement for journalists, after modifying the statutes of public institutions With what was pronounced in the agreement by a board that includes all the overlapping parties, its work shall end within a period not surpassing two months.

It was also agreed to disseminate the media annexe plan to all public institutions and for it to be solely for graduates of the Institute of Journalism and News Sciences.

In a statement issued by the SNJT , it was agreed to settle down the situation of 36 photojournalists in public media institutions and a commitment to hasten the process of dissolution in the confiscated media institutions, while the state secures the economic and social rights of the journalists operating in them within the contracts of cessation.

The agreement also stipulated to attach the Radio Zitouna to the Tunisian Broadcasting Corporation and to earmark the essential funds for that in a date that do not surpass May 2021 and to organize a national conference on public policies in the field of media.

The agreement likewise agreed to appoint a director to the  Tunisian Broadcasting Corporation as soon as possible: while respecting the requirements of appointment and the appropriateness of the plan as well as adopting the opinion of the Independent High Authority for Audiovisual Communication, and creating the National Agency for the disposition of public advertising by governmental order.

 The SNJT finally announced the cancellation of the press conference which was planned for tomorrow.
