Tunisia-SNJT suspends negotiations with government presidency

The National Union of Tunisian Journalists (SNJT) announced Wednesday, October 28, 2020, the halt of its discussions with the presidency of the government concerning the situation in the media sector.

In a press release published on Wednesday, October 28, 2020, it denounced “the policy of procrastination and the absence of seriousness in the treatment of files presented for negotiations with the union”.

“The union delegation had chosen to withdraw from the meeting on the source media file before it was held and to cease negotiations until the government reverses its negotiating approach,” they added, stressing the rejection of government policy of “blackmail and time saving” in dealing with the issues raised.

In the same context, the SNJT also denounced the interference of the adviser to the prime minister responsible for information and communication, in the composition of the negotiating union delegation and its practice of censoring journalists’ publications. on social networks.
