“Freedom of expression is threatened in Tunisia”,president of the National Union of Tunisian Journalists (SNJT) Mohamed Yassine Jelassi warned.
The SNJT president, especially cautioned against “the return of the dictatorship and the threats to freedom of expression”, in particular, after the detention of multiple people on the basis of posts published on social networks.
Speaking to to Mosaique FM, he likewise called “the behavior of police officers towards citizens as dangerous” and warned of threats made against journalists by MPs.
According to Mohamed Yassine Jelassi, “no legislation bans protest in the evening, recalling, in this sense, that the demonstrations which led to the fall of Ben Ali were carried out, for the most part, at night”.
