Tunisia-Sonede: Water cut in Gabes due to acts of vandalism

Sonede declared through a press release on June 13, 2021, that disturbances and cuts in the distribution of drinking water were reported in Gabes and the surrounding regions, due to acts of vandalism targeting Chatt El Fjij pipe transferring water to  Gabes during the night of Saturday, June 12 to Sunday, June 13, 2021.

Sonede alleged that farmers damaged the pipe in the town of El Hamma for irrigation purposes. Accordingly, the company confirms that it will start legal proceedings against anyone implicated in these acts, particularly since they have become recurrent during the last period.

It added that the water supply will progressively resume as soon as the destroyed structure is fixed.
