Tunisia – Sousse governor warns beekeepers and shepherds

Sousse governor asserted the pesticide spraying operation will be carried out by plane in several rural shelters as part of the mosquito control program, from February 15 to 26.

The governor clarified in a press release posted on the official page of the governorate that the pesticide spraying operation will involve the coastal depressions and swamps extending from the end of the tourist complex of Hammamet South to the end of the Madfoun forest (the region of Bouficha, Enfidha and Hergla), as well as the banks of Wadi Charchar, Wadi Chougaf and the mouth of Wadi Chougaf in the region of Bouficha.

In the same press release, the governor called on beekeepers to take the required precautions to maintain and protect the hives in the affected areas during the day when the pesticide spraying operation takes place and throughout the following 24 hours. He likewise called on herders to avoid grazing in areas covered by the spraying operation for a week.
