Tunisia-Sousse terrorist attack: UGTT calls on prosecution to investigate certain statements

The Tunisian General Labor Union (UGTT) denounced the terrorist attack perpetrated yesterday on Sunday against a patrol of the National Guard at the Akouda crossing in El Kantaoui in Sousse during which warrant officer Sami Mrabet was martyred and his colleague, Rami Limam, was seriously injured.

In a statement released on Monday, the UGTT said these “cowardly” operations will not shake the morale of the security and military forces or the conviction of the Tunisian people in their victory against terrorism.

The workers’ organization also reiterated its condemnation of the hate speech, resentment and incitement practised by certain political parties who exploit democracy to sow discord.

In this regard, the UGTT called on the prosecution to open an investigation into certain statements which consider the terrorist operation to be an intelligence operation in order to whitewash terrorism and justify the crimes of terrorist gangs, the same source said.

The UGTT underlined that the war on terrorism is still long and needs more vigilance to reveal the parties that support it and to fight against hate speech, treachery and disbelief as well as against all forms of extremism.
