The Minister of Agriculture, Water Resources, and Fisheries, Abdel Moneim Belaati, confirmed today that the Sousse seawater desalination plant will soon enter the production stage, with the initial operation of the plant anticipated to start by the end of November.
This announcement coincides with today’s commissioning of the Sfax station, which has begun the water production process at 25,000 cubic meters per day.
He clarified that these stations are part of the state policy in the face of climate change, citing the Al-Zarat station in Gabès, today Sfax, and soon that of Sousse.
In this context, he reported the installation of groundwater desalination plants and two reservoirs in Kalaa El-Kobra in the Sahel, and in Saidia in Greater Tunis to avoid what happened this summer, in addition to the construction of 4 dams which are still being finalised.
