Tunisia-Starting tonight: Distribution of imported red meat begins [Video]

Speaking to Tunisie Numérique, head of the National Chamber of Butchers Ahmed Amiri, confirmed that the quantities of imported meat enter the meat company’s headquarters today after breakfast time, and will be allocated at night to the stores of butchers who are dedicated to buying this meat under contracts.
Amiri added that these contracts allow monitoring of the quantities that will be distributed in the market to overcome several gaps, and the company’s follow-up process will be with economic research at the Ministry of Commerce so that the supply process in the market will have the required transparency.
Concerning the prices at which imported red meat will be promoted in the market, the speaker stated that it is in the scope of 35,600 dinars, emphasising that this meat is of high quality, condemning in the same context the excessively high prices of red meat in butcher shops when it is promoted. For 46 dinars, and in large areas, the price reached 57,300 dinars.
He stressed that this initiative introduced by the National Chamber seeks to put pressure on prices, and a container possessing18 tons at a rate of 45 calves was supplied, it will be promoted in Greater Tunis and several regions, such as Sfax, at the point of sale from producer to consumer in Bab Jabili, and Bizerte, calling on all butchers to join this system.
