The Tunisian Electricity and Gas Company (STEG) has received the green light from authorities for the building, installation and operation of the “Tunis-Mabtouh-Bizerte” gas pipeline, over 160 kilometres and whose maximum faculty reaches 150 thousand cubic meters (m3) / hour.
The Ministry of Industry, Energy and Mines has set the technical features of the gas pipeline and the fields of its passage (Ben Arous, Manouba and Bizerte), by virtue of a government order published in the JORT) on January 29, 2021.
This gas pipeline is formed of three central steel pipes. The first is 24 inches in diameter and 70 kilometres in length, joining the “Fouchana” departure station to the “Mabtouh” arrival station.
The second pipeline, 12 inches in diameter and 40 kilometres long, joining the connection point at “Mabtouh” arrival station to the “Zarzouna” arrival station.
The third pipeline is 20 inches in diameter and 50 kilometers long, attaching the connection point at the “Mabtouh” arrival station to the “Kharouba” arrival station.
This gas pipeline is additionally made up of pipes with diameters of 8 and 4 inches designed for supplying neighbouring municipalities, 15 disconnection stations and safety equipment, prevention of the dangers of explosion, fire and gas leaks. and markers indicating the location of the pipeline.
