Tunisia – Storage of 23 million eggs and 5 thousand tonnes of potatoes for Ramadan

The regional director of trade in Sfax, Mohamed Jaber Hariz revealed that the quantities of potatoes which will be produced and injected into the markets are assessed at around 20,000 tonnes, in addition to the 5,000 tonnes of adjustment stock. He added that February is viewed as a production period for several vegetables that will be available in the markets, considering the volume of demand during the month of Ramadan.

He likewise confirmed, during a session at the headquarters of the governorate of Sfax dedicated to preparations for the month of Ramadan, that the egg reserve amounts to around 23 million eggs at the national level and around 8 million eggs in Sfax.

White meat will naturally be available during Ramadan, while the prices of red meat will increase, pushing the Ellouhoum Company to seek to supply quantities of frozen meat to reduce the pressure and inject it into the market, and to provide quantities of frozen meat, to meet the needs of the tourism sector.
