The Minister of National Defense, Imad Mammich, welcomed, this Monday morning at the ministry’s headquarters, the Italian Ambassador to Tunisia, Alessandro Prunas.
The meeting was a chance to emphasise the long-standing historical ties between the two friendly countries, and the means to strengthen and diversify military cooperation between the two sides, as well as to prepare for the holding of the 25th session of the Tunisian-Italian Joint Military Committee.
The minister hailed the deep connections that unite the two countries, given the geographic proximity and common security challenges, calling for increased support for military cooperation, especially in the areas of training and exchange of knowledge. experiences, and the development of joint action and close coordination to guarantee maritime borders against the risks that threaten the stability of the region, in particular the problems of terrorism, organized crime and irregular migration, within the framework of trust and mutual respect.
For his part, the Italian ambassador voiced his satisfaction with the level reached by military cooperation between the two countries, whether within the framework of bilateral or multilateral cooperation, underlining his country’s readiness to continue the common work to maintain stability and security of the Mediterranean region.
