During a meeting committed to the preparations of the Tunisian Electricity and Gas Company (STEG) to guarantee continuity of electricity supply during the summer period, Faycal Trifa, CEO of STEG emphasised that the company is operating to set in place the required measures to cope with the peak in electricity consumption during the summer of 2024.
The manager gave the company’s roadmap concentrated in particular on the maintenance of the company’s network and its strengthening, especially with the entry into production of the “Toeur 1” and “Tozeur 2” photovoltaic power plants, which will raise the share of renewable energies in the energy mix.
According to STEG, the same meeting was an opportunity to present the company’s goals for the period 2024-2028, including in particular the improvement of financial and commercial profitability.
As a reminder, a record monthly electricity peak was registered in July 2023 with 4,825 MW. During the same month, a record was furthermore recorded in terms of monthly electricity production with 2510 Gwh.
