Tunisia- Suspension of activities of 150 political parties and 272 suspicious associations

During the plenary session at the parliament, on November 20, 2023, Samia Charfi Gaddour, head of the cabinet of the presidency of the government reported that a formal notice was transmitted to 150 political parties to provide clarification on their financial situation since 2018.

She added that justice disbanded 15 parties, while 14 others self-dissolved between 2020 and 2022, as part of a program which aims to establish financial transparency and protect political parties from suspicious money.

Gaddour further confirmed that the activities of 182 out of 272 suspicious associations have been suspended.
