The Secretary-General of the UGTT, Noureddine Tabboubi, admitted the existence of internal disagreements within the union, noting that there is nothing wrong with discussing them, as it is a sign of maturity, dynamism, and divergence of viewpoints, and a healthy phenomenon, as he put it.
In a speech delivered during his supervision of the commemoration of the 74th anniversary of the Enfidha events, on November 21, Tabboubi said that the internal conflicts within the union are not personal but rather focus on further developing the union and trade union work, overcoming shortcomings and obstacles, and striving for the best.
He added: “The Tunisian General Labor Union is going through a period of reflection on what we anticipate from the organization in light of the 21st century, amid technological development and artificial intelligence, and the impact this has on the workforce.”
He continued: “We do not claim perfection. We have made errors in some areas and been right in others, and the union has red lines that it cannot cross.”
