Tunisia-Taboubi and Mechichi stress the need to work together

Prime Minister Hichem Mechichi welcomed on Wednesday afternoon June 16, 2021 the Secretary-General of the Tunisian Labor Union (UGTT) Noureddine Taboubi.

The two parties reviewed the general situation in the country and the necessity to work together to overcome the economic and social problems and fix the issues that concern Tunisians, in particular by giving more support to the most vulnerable classes and who are among the most affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Mr Mechichi highlighted the significance of dialogue and consultation between the government and the UGTT which has made it possible to get positive results for the profit of Tunisians, the latest of which is the deal reached at the conclusion of the 5 + 5 meeting between the government and the UGTT, on the regularization of the situation of construction workers, on the publication of the application texts and the activation of the agreement of February 6.

For his part, Mr. Taboubi applauded the government’s willingness to respect former commitments and the common conviction of both parties in the need to act together and to consult continuously to find solutions to the outstanding issues.

He added that the meeting was an occasion to examine the mechanisms to accelerate the implementation of the results of the 5 + 5 meeting.
