Tataouine prosecutor’s office had initiated an inquiry into the recent events recorded in Tataouine over the past two days,e official spokesperson for the court of first instance, Kacem Mezgar told Tunisie Numérique ‘s correspondent in the region.
Mr Mezgar said that more than ten people have been charged with insurgency and severe assault on an official at his workplace. He stated the prosecution ordered the detention of 11 individuals as a first step.
Remarking that the investigating judge had directed the release of five minors under the age of 15 and the detention of 6 young men who were placed in custody during the investigation.
It should be noted that a number of young people in Tataouine took to the streets and blocked the road with stones and tires.
The latter later tried to storm the seat of the governorate, however, security forces prevented them, which sparked clashes between the two camps.
Seven protesters were wounded including one at the head level while a number of security personnel sustained injuries of varying degrees.
