Tunisia-The demands of the July 25 Movement

The “July 25 Movement” has issued on its official page all of its demands, particularly:

  • The dissolution of Parliament and setting a date for early elections
  • The decrease of the number of MPs to 119 at the rate of one deputy for the 100,000 inhabitants elected by individual ballot over two rounds and upholding the principle of vertical equity
  • The founding of a commission of constitutional law professors to avoid errors emanating from the poor drafting of the 2014 constitution
  • Grant the President of the Republic the power to dissolve Parliament
  • Ensure the independence of the judiciary
  • Remove parliamentary immunity from MPs accused of perpetrating crimes outside their parliamentary work
  • Dissolution of parties that have received illegal funding
  • Open an inquiry into donations and loans received by the Tunisian state since 2011
  • Prosecute those responsible for the deaths of citizens by the coronavirus
  • Recovery of compensation received under the general legislative amnesty

Remember that people against the compensation of the Nahdhouis created a group on Facebook and declared that protests will take place on July 25 on the occasion of Republic Day.
