U.S. Ambassador to Tunisia Donald Blome reaffirmed his country’s engagement to stand alongside Tunisia and strengthen its attempts to counter-terrorism and guard its borders.
Received on Friday by Minister of Defence Abdelkrim Zbidi, Blome praised the “great” level attained by the bilateral co-operation, particularly in the military sphere.
Blome besides felicitated Tunisia for its thriving organisation of the legislative and presidential polls, reemphasising his country’s dedication to making every effort to assist Tunisia triumphantly lead its democratic transition.
Quoted in a Defence Ministry press release, Zbidi commended the “privileged” level reached by the bilateral co-operation, a co-operation based on the principles of friendship and confidence, he indicated.
Zbidi further hailed the support of the U.S. Administration to Tunisia, notably in terms of securing the south-east borders through the implementation of a fixed and mobile electronic monitoring system and a coast surveillance system.
“The United States is a friend of Tunisia and a key partner to overcome the joint challenges, including first and foremost the fight against terrorism,” he indicated.
