The UN has called for guaranteeing peaceful, fair and transparent presidential elections in Tunisia.
“We urge all concerned to guarantee equal opportunities for all candidates, in full respect of Tunisian law and the prerogatives of the judiciary. We remind the authorities and candidates of their responsibility to ensure peaceful elections and to settle any complaints through justice,” states a statement published by the United Nations Office in Tunis.
The UN is closely observing the continuous electoral process in Tunisia, the statement added.
