Tunisia – They wanted to flood Tunisia with drugs of all types

The spokesperson for the Ministry of the Interior, Faker Bouzgaia, revealed that the anti-narcotics sub-directorate in El Gorjani succeeded, during a qualitative operation, on the morning of Sunday, May 12, 2024, in partnership with central and regional teams in Sousse, to thrwat the operation to introduce a drug shipment towards the coast, valued at 3,000 plates of “Zatla” (around 300 kilos) and 25,000 narcotic tablets. A large sum of money was, on occasion, conficated as well as a number of movable property, cars and jewelry.

Bouzgaia added that 9 people inplicated in an international drug trafficking network active between the Maghreb countries and two European countries were arrested. They coordinated with each other employing advanced and modern communications equipment.

The spokesperson noted that this shipment from the sea was blocked in one of the Sahel ports.

He added that after consultation with the public prosecutor, the members of the dismantled network were charged with trafficking and drug trafficking, as well as money laundering, knowing that this network launders its money in real estate or movable property, adding that the value of the seizures amounts to nearly 8 million euros.
