Tunisia: This politician barred for life from running in elections

The Secretary General of the Popular Republican Union (UPR) Mohamed Lotfi Mraïhi was condemned to 8 months in jail by the Criminal Chamber of the Court of First Instance of Tunis with a lifetime ban on running for office.

The same source added that this decision was taken to offer cash gifts to influence voters.

According to Mosaïque FM, the Chamber in question pronounced the same prison penalty and a fine of 1,000 dinars against an official of the Republican Popular Union party, an insurance agent and two other defendants.
