On Monday morning, the Tunis Transport Company (TRANSTU) received 80 urban buses, representing the first batch of 165 standard buses previously modified for the Paris Paralympic Games. The donation is part of a deal signed on January 27, 2025, between TRANSTU, Île-de-France Mobilités, and the Paris Independent Transport Agency (RATP).
According to a statement issued by TRANSTU, the buses will be put into service in the coming weeks, while a second batch of 85 buses is expected soon.
These eco-friendly buses come with several features:
Low-floor access for easier boarding
Euro 5-compliant particulate filters
Automatic boarding ramps for persons with disabilities
Dedicated wheelchair spaces
Ventilation and air conditioning systems (in some units)
Video surveillance
Automatic gear-shifting system
TRANSTU stated that these buses will significantly improve urban public transport services.
The handover ceremony was attended by the Chief of Staff at the Ministry of Transport, the Director General of TRANSTU, several ministry officials, and representatives from the involved organizations.
