The Tunisian Transport Company (Transtu) is currently engaged in carrying out a significant maintenance operation for the fleet, and preparing for several new acquisitions, head of information at Transtu Hayat Shamtouri told Tunisie Numérique.

Shamtouri added that this program comes after the narrow ministerial council held on March 25, 2024, during which the decision was taken to re-utilize 100 buses and check the engines and gearboxes of 100 other buses, in addition to allocating grants worth 15.6 million dinars to carry out repairs of 200 buses.

Our speaker noted that regarding the metro network, funds worth 7.5 million dinars have been allocated to speed up the repair of 28 metro cars, and she talked about finishing and allocating the required funds to acquire 300 new buses and 40 used metro cars. Waiting for the realisation of the necessary funds to acquire the rest of the new acquisitions program for buses to develop and improve the fleet.
