Tunisia-Tunisia expresses reservations on resolution of Islamic summit concerning Palestinian cause

Mr. Nabil Ammar, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians Abroad, led the Tunisian delegation to the summit, representing His Excellency President Kais Saïed.
The summit issued the final declaration, which included numerous paragraphs concerning Islamic cooperation in many fields, in particular political, economic and cultural, as well as the situation of Muslim minorities in some non-OIC member states, in addition to the “Banjul” declaration and the resolution on the Palestinian question and Al-Quds Al-Sharif,reads a press release issued by the foreign ministry.
 
The final declaration published by the conference welcomed the holding of the consultative meeting between the leaders of the three brotherly countries, Tunisia, Algeria and Libya, in Tunis on April 22, 2024, at the kind invitation of the President of the Republic, Mr. Kais Saïed, during which the Heads of State of the three countries affirmed their common will to intensify consultation and coordination to strengthen the components of security, stability and development throughout the region and strengthen its immunity, as well as the importance of exchanging analyses, assessments and information on the phenomenon of terrorism terrorism, human trafficking, all kinds of drugs and organized crime that threaten the security and stability of the region and its interests.
The final declaration also welcomed Tunisia’s hosting of the tenth session of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation halal products exhibition during the period from 8 to 12 October 2024 and urged Member States and private sector institutions to actively participate in this exhibition.
While the Tunisian delegation confirmed its firm and clear position on the Palestinian question and its support for all what was stated in the conference documents concerning the just Palestinian cause, the Tunisian delegation officially registered its reservation to the references made in these documents to the “borders of June 4, 1967”, to the “two-state solution” and to “East Jerusalem”, on the basis of Tunisia’s firm position and its unconditional support for the brotherly Palestinian people in their struggles to regain their legitimate, inalienable and non-obsolete rights and its plea for the right of the Palestinians to establish their independent state throughout Palestine, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as their capital,adds the same source.
